Tips and Tricks of Indian Bridal Make-up

Every bride, ever since she is a little girl dreams to look like a princess on her D-day.  From her bridal wear to hairdo and make-up, she picturise it and fantasise about it her whole life. She strives for perfection and this drives her crazy.

So, if you are also one such bride-to-be and is stressed about the Indian bridal make-up tricks, worry not as we are going to share the tips for perfect make-up on your wedding day.

Choose your cosmetics wisely
Make sure you choose the right products keeping in mind your skin type. Use cosmetics which are tried and tested by you earlier. Don’t fall prey to experimentation on your special day as if the product doesn’t suit you, it might lead to skin allergy or rashes which may spoil the most crucial day of your life.

Prep up for pre-bridal
For the much required wedding glow, one should always resort to pre-bridal pampering session. The cleansing and facial regimen will give you the glow and radiance you always want. Make sure that you cleanse, tone, moisturise and exfoliate your face regularly.

It is very important that your skin is hydrated properly to give you a fresh look on your wedding day. You can use home-made face packs to get rid of oil and acne as well as for the unblemished complexion you are striving for.

Make-up Hacks
Make-up may make or break the look. Wearing right amount of make-up is very important. It shouldn’t be over the top and shouldn’t give you a cakey look.

Go for an understated and subtle make-up that enhances your features and suits your skin type.

For the Face
Start with applying primer. The primer helps to even the skin. It also helps the make-up to stay longer. Once you are done with primer, proceed with the foundation. Foundation is the base of any make-up. Make sure you use the colour that matches your skin type.

Check the colour in day light to be sure before you use it on your wedding day. Another point to be considered while selecting the foundation is that it should be long-lasting matte finished foundation. Apply foundation evenly on the face and let it settle for a while.

Dust the pressed powder over the foundation to set the foundation and to keep it in place. Also, it helps to absorb any extra oil that comes out of the pores. The next step is using a concealer over the areas like under-eye circles, corners of the nose and lips. It hides discolouration, blemishes and any acne spots on the skin and makes you look flawless.

Contouring
If you have a broad nose or round cheeks and you are worried your pictures won’t come as good as you want them to be, try contouring. Contouring is an art of re-shaping the features with the use of one shade darker foundation or bronzer than your actual skin tone.

It is like giving an illusion of a sharp nose and chiseled cheeks with the darker foundation. This makes you look sharp, sleek and picture-perfect.

Blush and Illuminator
Once you are done with the base, next step in Indian bridal make-up is to lighten and brighten the face. For that, one needs to use the blush powder in shades of pink, peach or rose. Blush is used on the apple of cheeks, bridge of the nose and slightly on the forehead to give an impression of natural pink colour of the skin.

This not only makes your face look radiant and glowing but also makes you look ravishing in the photographs. After blush, make sure you use an illuminator on your cheeks to have a little tint of shimmer which is very important for a bride. After all, it’s your day and you need to shine!

For the eyes
Eye make-up is the most important part of Indian bridal make-up. It’s the dramatic eye make-up which brings the real change. A beautifully done eye make-up is a blessing for any bride. It not only makes you look like a diva but also enhances the best feature of your face.

That is why, eye make-up is extremely crucial and it should be done with the utmost care. For that, start with applying primer and foundation over the eyes.

Use a brow pencil which is a shade darker than your brow hair to darken your eyebrows and to give them a defined shape. After that use an eye shadow that matches with your attire and apply it evenly. Make sure you apply it till the edge of an eye.

Outline and define your eyes by using an eye-liner and kajal pencil. Use a hint of shimmer to highlight your eye-shadow. Lastly, make use of an eye-curler and water-proof mascara for the fuller butterfly eye-lashes.   And let your eyes do the talking!

For the lips
Use a warm and flattering lip shade while doing Indian bridal make-up. Make sure you use neutral colour lipstick or lip gloss if your eye-make is dark. Don’t highlight both lips and eyes at the same time. Apply lipstick with the help of lip brush along the natural line of lips.

The lipstick should be applied from one corner to the other evenly. Use lip-liner as the same colour of the lipstick to make it more defined. Avoid dark coloured lip-liners as it looks artificial in photographs.

I’m sure with these handy Indian bridal make-up tips, you will nail it and look like the most stunning bride you always dreamt to be!

Bride’s Make-up
No bride would want her make-up and hair to get spoiled on the best day of her life. So, to avoid this nightmare from turning into reality, ask your make-up artist to use water-proof and water resistant cosmetics on your big day. Make sure your make-up lasts long especially your eye-liner and mascara. Use make-up spray to seal the make-up in its place.

If you get little wet, don’t panic and wipe off your face as it will remove your make-up. Instead just pat your face lightly and you are good to go. You can also opt for air-brush make-up as it has tendency to last longer than the usual one. So, don’t freak out while doing Indian wedding planning in monsoon and make the most of it.

Turn Bane into Boon

Rains are usually associated with chaos and mud. But if planned properly, this inclement weather can become the perfect backdrop for your wedding. Generally, Indian wedding planning is done for winter season but if you are someone who likes to break the norms, monsoon wedding is just perfect.

One can get one’s favourite venue at cheaper rates as weddings in monsoon season are unconventional. Also one can bargain with caterers and decorators and can get pocket-friendly prices.

Make your List 'Rain-checked’
No Indian wedding planning is complete without a rain-check. Even if you are expecting a dry day on your wedding, one should be equipped with the ‘Plan-B ’just in case it pours.  Make sure you book an indoor wedding venue.

And if you are daring enough to go for an outdoor location, ask your wedding planner for the water-proof tents. Along with this, arrange the umbrellas beforehand for the guests. Also, arrange for carpools and hire few cabs that can pick and drop your guests in case of a rain shower.

Power Backup
As soon as monsoon hits the country, we all face the common problem of power cuts. So, to avoid this disaster on your crucial day, make sure you arrange for the power backup while doing wedding planning in India. It’s very important to have power backup facility so that you can enjoy an uninterrupted wedding.

Rain-Theme Décor
If you are thinking out-of-the box by doing Indian wedding planning in monsoon season, the décor should be in conformity with the rain theme.  You can bring the essence of rainy season by experimenting with fountains, lots of colorful umbrellas and rainbow inspired furniture. Also, you can add a touch of rain theme by decking up the venue with lots of aromatic candles and artificial flowers.

Trends for Indian Bridal Make-up 2015

Those eyes kill me quietly. As your face, your devilish lips
Take my breath away; like it was sucked out of my soul.
It leaves me completely breathless, utterly speechless.

-Alexander Bentley

A ravishing, radiant bride is the focal point of any wedding. As mostly the Indian bridal attires are in bold colours with lot of gold and glitter, the Indian bridal make-up has to be at par, so that more than her dress, it is she who takes everyone’s breath away.

Let’s cover the trends of Indian bridal make-up for each specific feature that is highlighted:

Tress Talk:
This season the hair can be tied up using any hairstyle with accents of flowers or a jewel hair accessory. The South Indian bride displays an amazing braid hairdo with flowers and ornaments. For a modern look the bride can let the hair down with soft curls. Hair extensions and a hint of colour in hair with an emphatic mangtikka are also popular.

The flawless skin:
The base foundation for the face, which is like creating canvas for art, has to be perfect. It has to look flawless and natural at the same time. It is important to choose the tone as per your complexion, sometimes a shade darker does more justice than ending up like ghost bride. Brides are going in for airbrush foundations that are applied through misty spray and they let your skin breathe. One trend in Indian bridal make-up is using a bronzer instead of blush as it gives definition and contour on the face with a more natural look and this in turn results in amazing wedding day pictures!

The eyes say it all:
Smokey eyes are big now as they go well with this season’s more bejeweled and opulent classic wedding attires. This year rust and copper brown shadows are favourites, as is the addition of shimmer to the eyes. There is also a trend of adding a hint of the attire colour to the eyes like blues, teals, greens, etc. whatever the bride is wearing. This season for the Indian bridal make-up, the focus is on the eyes. The younger brides prefer a minimalistic look with no huge fake eye lashes.  Kajals will always be popular with Indian brides and full eyebrows are also very in for the Indian bridal make-up.

Lips don’t lie:
Indian bridal make-up this season is all for natural berry stained lips or underplayed nude lips to match the brides’s smokey highlighted eyes. Instead of the sharp edge of the lip liners, the stains give a more natural look. Orange-browns and plums also go well with Indian complexion and most of the conventional Indian bridal-wear colours. Before choosing the lip colour the bride should consider her dress colour and skin tone too. The brides can go for bolder colours like reds or fuchsias with lightly done eyes.

Brides are also going in for permanent make-up these days. Permanent make-up helps you have well done eyebrows, eyeliners, lip colours and you can also add a beauty spot that will stay for a long time.

When we talk of an Indian bride we cannot ignore culture and tradition. So apart from the general elements of Indian bridal make-up, the Indian bride has some unique additions. The Bengali bride goes for a big red bindi and red and white motifs on her forehead accentuating the eyes. The red bindi is a common element for most of the Indian brides (except the Catholic or Islamic bride). The Maharashtrian bride sports a crescent moon shaped bindi.

The Bengali bride
The wedding pictures of Bollywood celebrities like Aishwarya Rai and Kareena Kapoor, shows them with lots of jewellery or regal dresses with subtle make-up, so I guess that sums up the make-up trend. You can go heavy on your attire but ‘au naturale’ is the Indian bridal make-up mantra for 2015.
